We are looking to appoint an additional Support Worker to join our team at Rosemary Cottage, Woodchurch, TN26 3RJ. Canterbury Oast Trust takes pride in providing first class quality care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent and East Sussex. We provide long-term accommodation and care, based in small family style homes. The ethos of all our homes is to support independence, dignity, choice and achievement by helping people to live the lives they choose.

Rosemary Cottage is home to six adults who have learning disability needs including physical and sensory impairments. As a Support Worker based at Rosemary Cottage you will be working with adults with a variety of complex needs.

About the Role:

As a Support Worker you will provide good quality care and support to the adults based on their needs through a person-centred approach and assist them in every aspect of their daily lives, including personal care by providing a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their aspirations.

As a Support Worker you will ideally need:

o An appreciation of the needs of people with learning disabilities plus physical and sensory impairments
o Experience of using specialist equipment and knowledge of autism, diabetes, epilepsy and dementia would be preferable but not essential as comprehensive training is available
o To be considerate, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic and professional
o To be Flexible as hours include weekends, sleep-ins and awake night duties as rostered
o Sound interpersonal skills
o Good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills
o A willingness to work towards achieving a NVQ2 Diploma in Health and Social Care Qualification within 18 months of commencement
o To hold a driving licence due to our rural location and the requirement to drive service users to activities and appointments
