Waking Night Support Worker

SALARY: £19,000 p.a. / £9.74p.h. Based on a 37.5hr week. Pro Rata for part time roles.

HOURS: 31.5

SHIFT: 2 Week Rolling Rota. Working 10pm to 7am.

WK 1 - Monday / Friday / Saturday and Sunday

WK 2 - Tuesday / Wednesday / Thursday

LOCATION: 1a Homersham, Canterbury

About the Role:

Waking Night Support workers help our residents to feel safe and secure throughout the night. Delivering exceptional care and support to ensure that our residents live as independently as possible. They will also maintain the cleanliness of the service and carry out necessary utility checks. This is a personally rewarding role where you can build on your skills and experience. Having a background in supporting people with Autism in a previous role within a social care environment is desirable, although it is not essential. What is essential is that you understand that autism can be complex and challenging and that each person we support is unique.

About the Service:Homersham

Homersham is a supported living service that currently supports six tenants, three in self-contained flats and three that have on suite bedrooms with a shared communal area. We have a lovely outside space which is used a lot for BBQs during the warmer months. We have five gentleman and one lady aged between 19-26 years. Three of our tenants have their own cars, the others all enjoy going out on public transport or walking. We do lots of great activities such as bowling, horse riding, walking, shopping, and coastal visits.

About the Trust:

Supporting over 120 people in Medway and across Kent, The Kent Autistic Trust provides a wide range of services designed to meet diverse needs of the people we support with autism, learning disabilities and related difficulties. We provide residential homes, supported living accommodation, day resource services, respite and outreach services. Ensuring the voice of those we support is actively listened to, working for us often means that no two days are the same, but the care and support we give is of consistently high quality, with CQC rating all our services good, and many outstanding.

Responsibilities:

The Waking Night Support Worker role may include but not be limited to:

o Routine safety checks on individuals and their environment
o Ensure the service is safe and secure
o Household management tasks cooking, cleaning etc.
o Administering medication
o Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
o Ensuring written records are correctly maintained
o Will include lone working
o Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours - hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting.
o Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
o Understanding each individuals abilities and support needs
o Promoting independence and choice
o Promoting equality, diversity and inclusion
o Uphold the privacy, confidentially and dignity of all individuals
o To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
o A commitment to continuous personal development and learning.
