Power Supply Low Voltage Technicians

£30,400 Increasing up to £38,600

Basic Starting Salary Circa £30.4k per annum, increasing up to £38.6k with development to required high voltage qualification. Plus up to an additional £10k supplement per annum for shift work, additional hours and on call.

Eurotunnel manages, maintains and operates the Channel Tunnel Fixed Link Concession between Folkestone and Coquelles, France. Opened on 6 May 1994, the Fixed Link is a rolling motorway which transports passenger and commercial freight vehicles on board Shuttles across the Channel at 140kph, in 35 minutes. It also allows the running of third party passenger and railfreight trains. The advantages of the Channel Tunnel are security, reliability, speed, frequency and respect for the environment.

In 2019, Eurotunnel Shuttles carried circa 1.6 million trucks, more than 2.6 million passenger vehicles and facilitated the transportation of just over 1m tonnes of freight and more than 11m Eurostar passengers. Over €138 billion of goods are transported through the Channel Tunnel every year.

Eurotunnel is seeking experienced and highly motivated Electricians to join our Power Supply department initially as Low Voltage Technicians. This is a development opportunity and successful applicants must be motivated to train and develop to work on the High Voltage network. Working at our terminal in Folkestone you will be part of a team of technicians employed in the servicing and preparation of Low Voltage and High Voltage electrical network equipment. Much of the work is undertaken at night and weekends so you must be prepared to work unsocial hours and also participate in an on call rota. Premiums are paid for shift and on call.

Our Power Supply Technicians are competent to work on both Electrical and Mechanical systems. They will also have significant “hands-on” responsibility for our PLCs and control systems along with associated instrumentation.

An NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installations with a minimum of 3 years’ experience is essential. Professional experience in industrial electrical maintenance systems is an advantage. In addition, successful candidates must hold the BS 7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and City and Guilds 2391 Electrical Test and Inspection qualifications.
