The Information Services department at the University of Kent is seeking a Head of User Experience to join the leadership team and provide professional leadership for the User Experience section of Information Services.

You will manage and organise teams and resources to focus on the development of personalised, flexible, scalable, high quality and relevant user services. You will make a significant contribution to improving the digital capability and capacity of staff and students at the University.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a passion for delivering an excellent user experience to help develop and to implement a new vision for Information Services as part of a dynamic team which is helping the University digitally transform and achieve its strategic objectives.

This role will see you:
• Develop and support a strong IT community of practise at the University and ensure central IT strategy and best practise is developed in partnership with devolved IT staff to best support digital productivity in all research, learning, teaching and other University business.
• Create a strategic framework for the delivery of a highly effective user engagement programme, capturing behavioural insights and identifying other data to underpin service design and development.
• Lead all IS activity relating to communication, marketing and user engagement, championing the adoption of new models for engagement and ensuring social media platforms are utilised and managed appropriately.

To succeed in this role you will:
• Be educated to graduate level or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Have a successful track record in leadership and management of teams across multiple disciplines in a large scale and/or complex user services environment.
• Have experience of the implementation of strategic plans, and in the management and provision in relevant areas of professional activity.

Information Services is comprised of five sections: User Experience, Learning and Research Resources, IT Infrastructure, Enterprise Systems and Business Development and Partnerships. Together these directly support almost all areas of University activity.

The University’s main campus is in Canterbury; a vibrant exciting and well-connected city with a world-famous cathedral. One of medieval Europe’s great places of pilgrimage and knowledge, it has a distinctly cosmopolitan feel thanks to its international visitors and the students and staff from its three universities. Less than an hour from London, it takes little more than that to visit France

Interviews are likely to be held w/c 12 July.
