Are you used to managing services and applying a strong customer-oriented ethos?

Do you have extensive experience of supporting and advising people, in particular those in difficult situations needing confidential, sensitive and professional guidance? If so, this key role of Student Support & Wellbeing Manager could be the ideal opportunity for you within our newly established Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS).

We are looking for an innovative problem solver with advanced communication, interpersonal and collaborative working skills to develop and manage the KMMS student support and wellbeing service interfaces at both partner universities. Personal resilience and experience of handling complex issues will be important as you are likely to have to deal with students experiencing a wide range of situations and difficulties.

As Student Support & Wellbeing Manager you will:

collaborate with student support colleagues at Canterbury Christ Church University and University of Kent
develop, implement and maintain efficient and effective systems and procedures to manage student support service functions
support the operation of the KMMS student reception and student support desk
monitor and evaluate KMMS student support systems
be the first point of contact for students experiencing difficulties, referring on to specialists as necessary
deliver information, advice and signposting for students via a range of methods

To be successful in this role you will need:

a strong customer service ethos and experience of leading/managing services in a customer service environment
extensive experience of supporting/advising people across a wide range of different, sometimes crisis, situations
experience of information management and developing innovative systems and procedures
demonstrable experience of dealing with confidentiality and complex issues
excellent interpersonal, communication, active listening and writing skills

Kent and Medway Medical School (KMMS) opened to our first cohort of 108 pioneer students in September 2020.
