Salary: £23kpa pro rata. Mileage paid at £0.40p per mile.
Contract: Fixed term contract – 31st August 2020.
Location: Covering Kent (Margate, Dover, Folkestone and Gravesend).
The Coordinator will work from home and will be predominately focused on working in Margate but work will include the other areas.
Hours: 20 hours a week, will include some evening and weekend work.
Reporting to: ‘Roma in the lead’ Project Manager

Project Aim

The ‘Roma in the Lead’ project seeks to support migrant Roma communities in four districts of Kent: Thanet, Gravesham, Dover, and Folkestone. Four Roma Development Officers have been employed to help their communities identify solutions to their problems and consequently to assist in establishing positive activities, increasing access to services and building links with wider communities. New avenues of communication between providers of statutory and voluntary services, Roma and wider communities are being created. Activities established and led by the community include healthy eating clubs, Zumba lessons, English classes and information workshops.

The success of the Roma Development Officers in generating new initiatives and activities promoting integration and better life chances for Roma has created the need for greater support, both for the Development Officers, and the Project Manager.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference in local communities particularly around health, education, employment and integration. You will support the Project Manager to provide better support and supervision to the Development Officers across Kent, assist with events and help to develop systems and project infrastructure to enable effective monitoring and evaluation of the project. You will be a proactive person with the communications skills necessary to coach and develop staff new to community engagement.

Key responsibilities:

• Help create effective systems for monitoring and evaluating activities in the local areas. Support Development Officers in the effective implementation of these systems.
• Ensure that good record keeping practices are established which comply with data protection regulations.
• Assisting Development Officers with events, helping with budgeting, timelines, promotion and practical assistance on the day.
• Ensuring that legislation around health and safety, safeguarding and data protection is complied with in each area.
• Coaching and supporting Developing Officers in developing community engagement activities.
• Identifying and developing partnership opportunities.
• Supporting and developing volunteers.
• Working to implement and develop the project’s communication strategy .
• Preparing weekly update of activities, progress and needs for project manager and board.
• Provide additional supervision and support to Development Officers as needed.
• This position will require travel for meetings or conferences.

Access to car and willing to travel across Kent and Medway to each of the four districts.
