We are seeking a driven, hard-working individual/team player, enthusiastic, reliable and conscientious individual to take on this challenging and dynamic role working within the highways team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the Assistant Highways Manager and Highways Support roles in the coordination of street works, ensuring contractors are compliant with the relevant legislation and safety code of practices whilst maintaining positive working relationships with the local Highway Authorities.

Knowledge of the New Roads & Streetworks Acts, Traffic Management Acts, Permit Schemes and associated codes of practice is ideal but not essential. The candidate will require excellent communication skills with proficient knowledge of Microsoft packages.

Main responsibilities of the role will include:
* Supporting the Assistant Highways Manager on managing positive and professional relationships with all eleven Highway Authorities
* Attending meetings with SEW Operational teams, Contractors and other utilities and Authorities on the Assistant Highways Manager's behalf
* Provide advice to internal departments and contractors to enable timely management of all highway activities and notifications
* Assist all internal customers with the interpretation of Regulations and Codes of Practice related acts
* Provide training and advice on current and future highways legislation to SEW internal departments and contractors
* Ensure mains replacements and strategic projects are designed, implemented and completed in accordance with NRSWA and TMA by liaising with Project Managers, Project Engineers and contractors
* Conducting joint site safety audits with internal and external stakeholders in compliance with safety Code of Practice
* Providing regular management reports, highlighting any areas requiring improvement
* Undertake continuous monitoring of works notices/permits to identify trends in performance and feed back to contractors and authorities
* Actively promote a positive company image within the Highway Authorities and professional street works bodies (SEHAUC, SEJUG, performance meetings etc).

The successful candidate must be willing to travel to meet with relevant Highway Authorities and contractors across South East Waters operational area with a full clean driving licence held.

In return, we offer a competitive salary, a minimum of 25 days annual leave, a stakeholder pension scheme in which the maximum Company contribution is 10% and a life assurance scheme.
