A number of exciting opportunities have arisen for individuals to undertake the role of Administration Clerk (Level 2) working within the Driver Diversion Team (formerly Central Ticket Office) at Force Headquarters.

You will work on one of two teams dealing with the input and administration of various Police Officer issued offence notices such as fixed penalty tickets and penalty notices for disorder and/or dealing with the verification and administration of speed camera offences. This involves reviewing offences detected by speed cameras, making decisions according to pre-determined policies and criteria whether an offence should be processed, and thereafter ensuring that statutory notices are issued within the legal time limit. You will be required to deal with large volumes of correspondence and telephone calls from members of the public, courts and colleagues within the wider Force. Although pre-drafted letter templates are provided, you should be competent and comfortable in drafting responses to correspondence.

The work is heavily reliant on dedicated IT software in which training will be provided. The post holder should however be comfortable working within an IT environment and should be fully conversant with applications such as Microsoft Word. PNC and Athena access would be an advantage although training can be arranged if required.

The Driver Diversion Team is part of the Central Process Unit based at Force Headquarters which combines all aspects of traffic offence management. The focus of the Unit is to reduce the burden of bureaucracy for frontline officers and this does involve changing processes and procedures. The ability to be flexible and open to change will therefore be essential.

The successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills in order to provide a high quality service to both the public and internal customers. You will be able to demonstrate a proven record of a methodical and organised approach to your work and the ability to be flexible and accept change. Ideally you will have worked within a customer focused environment and understand the importance of providing a high quality service.

Applicants should possess a good standard of education to GCSE or equivalent. Experience of working within an IT environment is desirable as are good keyboard skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word.
