Construction Skills Tutor (And Canterbury Skate Project Tutor)

The Canterbury Academy Trust

We are looking to recruit a positive and enthusiastic member of staff to assist in the teaching of construction skills to our secondary phase students at The Canterbury Academy.

This is an exciting role and the successful candidate will also have the ability, aptitude, talent and enthusiasm to coach and instruct in our Canterbury Skate Project (A Skateboarding based provision offering an exciting range of curricular and extra-curricular activities).
The post holder may also be expected to provide technician support in Design Technology and Resistant Materials.
Applicants should be able to demonstrate evidence of good literacy and numeracy skills to enable them to communicate effectively with staff and students and provide effective and sensitive support.

Experience of working with children and young people in a school or learning environment is preferred.
Candidates most suited to the post will have:-

A positive, friendly and enthusiastic personality
Patience, care and respect for our young learners
Experience working with secondary aged children
Knowledge of safeguarding issues
Qualifications and/or experience in construction skills or teaching construction skills
A determination to help provide the very best inclusive education
The ability to work as part of a dedicated and hardworking team with staff and parents
Good written and communication skills of at least GCSE standard
To hold a recognised teaching, coaching or teaching assistant qualifications would be an advantage

This will be a permanent full time position.
