London Lane and Ash House in London Road are supported homes in Bromley that provide the right balance of support to enable residents to maintain their independence and continue living their lives to the full.

The services are consists of studio apartments, with homely communal areas and are linked by a large garden and summer house.

Both services are in an ideal location, close to local shops, amenities and transport links.

Applications from people who would like to join the dedicated teams of staff at these locations are always welcome.

The service has a vacancy for a bank Laundry Assistant, who will promote the quality of life and wellbeing of our residents by ensuring their clothes and linen are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene and ensure the safe and efficient running of the laundry.

Pay: £8.21 per hour.

Main Duties and Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

o Launder residents clothing/linen according to their individual wishes and adhere to washing instructions.
o Wash bed linen and towels ensuring linen cupboards are kept stocked.
o Practice standard infection control precautions when dealing with soiled laundry.
o Repair clothing and sew in nametags.
o Inform the senior on duty when linen/clothing needs replacing.
o Iron clothing.
o Return clothing to residents.
o Ensure that the laundry is kept clean and tidy.
o De-fluff tumble dryers daily
o Follow safe methods whilst using all laundry equipment and ensure manufacturers instructions are followed.
o Report faulty equipment for repair and ensure out of order sign is posted on appliance.
o Dispose with waste in accordance with The Organisation policy guidelines
o Be prepared to support the housekeeping department when required
o Maintain high standards of confidentiality in accordance with the Organisations policies and beliefs.
o Attend all mandatory training on an annual basis.
o Uphold agreed policies, procedures and standards of care in keeping with the stated beliefs of the Organisation.
o Promote a positive image of the Organisation.
o Work to promote equality and diversity, and eliminate discrimination for all the Organisations service users, staff and volunteers. Attend staff and residents meetings and training activities as directed.


The ideal Laundry Assistant will demonstrate

o A caring and compassionate approach
o Patience and understanding of older people
o Knowledge of or a willingness to be trained in the correct procedures for carrying out all of their duties including use of laundry / cleaning equipment
o Awareness of cultural needs of individuals
o Current knowledge of HandS legislation and application of HandS practices with particular regard to laundry room / cleaning equipment
o Knowledge and understanding of COSHH regulations
o Good communication skills with different groups, e.g. staff, residents, local community
o Understanding of different values / cultures of residents and staff
o Team working skills
o Good timekeeping skills
o Professionalism


The ideal Laundry Assistant will have the ability to:

o Play an active role in creating a good environment
o Prioritise their work
o Be aware of the support needed by others, consider how they can support them and encourage and support them
o Train for and take on additional responsibilities
o Listen carefully and attentively
o Respect the dignity and privacy of all those they come into contact with
o Apply their knowledge and training in the workplace
o Uphold the policies and procedures of The Organisation


The duties of the post necessitate the following essential training elements being completed subsequent to employment:

o Induction
o Moving and Handling
o Health and Safety (including COSHH regulations)
o Adult Protection
o Equality and Diversity
o Fire Awareness
o Infection Control
o Knowledge of the Home\'s speciality, eg. Dementia Care, Parkinson\'s Disease
o Behaviour that may challenge
