Working for a very reputable private hospital who deliver high quality private healthcare services in East Kent. Performing general surgeries, cosmetic surgery, non-surgical cosmetic treatments and physiotherapy, this business are continuing to build a superior service to deliver all healthcare needs and at a service level their clients demand.

Position Expectations
To be responsible and accountable for the management of the theatre services in the absence of the Theatre Manager in order to achieve the results required by the hospital; through effective direction and control of staff and the efficient use of the resources allocated.

Role and Responsibilities
• Liaise with bookings to ensure that the appropriate patient levels are allocated to theatre lists
• Monitor staffing timesheets and ensure all costs are crossed charged to other departments where appropriate
• Ensure consistently that departmental resources are used economically and efficiently
• Help identify, plan and project lead service development opportunities in order to grow the volume and profitability of the service
• Project lead in the development of new clinical services
• Provide hands on clinical duties to support the services including scrub, circulating and recovery duties
• Formulate theatre policies and procedures
• Monitor clinical practice to ensure that specified standards are being achieved
• Assist in the development of an effective recruitment and retention strategy in order to maintain a quality workforce
• Responsibility for carrying out team members personal development discussions (PDD)
• Define the staffing requirements for theatres to fulfil current and future clinical/business requirements
• Ensure the appropriate skills mix of staff is allocated to the team providing an agreed standard to patients
• Provide appropriate supervision and direction to staff according to their individual capabilities and known competencies
• Assist in the induction and training of new members of staff and act as a mentor or preceptor for new staff within the team


Qualifications and Experience
• Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner
• NMC/HPC Registered
• Proven experience at band 6 level
• Supervisory Management Certificate Level 4
• Diploma in Health Care Studies
• Ability to assess, plan and evaluate patient care
• Knowledge or research and evidence-based practice
• Teaching and assessing/mentorship
• Catalyst for change
• Knowledge of CQC
• Orthopaedic and Minimally Invasive Procedure
• Laser Applications
