Support Workers
Speldhurst, Kent
Are you a fun, down-to-earth support worker, with experience of looking after children with profound disabilities, looking for an exciting opportunity within a creative family environment?
We are looking for Support Workers to join a small care team to look after our client, Sam, a fun loving five-year-old boy with profound disabilities who loves technology and playing games on his iPad.
Sam enjoys the adrenaline of muddy walks and adores animals; the family home has a dog, cats, guinea pigs, chickens and fish. Sam has a great love of music and welcomes you to sing along to his favourite songs.
This is a busy, fun environment with the whole family having a love of nature, crafts and music. This opportunity enables you to bring out your creative, artistic and musical side. You will be working 1:1 with Sam in creating stimulating activities, whilst also involving his siblings in interactions. Sam’s family are very involved in his care and you will be required to accompany Sam on activities outside of the family home.
You will be able to get totally involved in Sam’s care by supporting with suctioning, PEG feeding and drawing and administering medication in line with the MAR sheet. Training for these tasks will be provided.
We have the following shifts available: -
Term Time
Three afternoons per week 14.30 – 19.45.
Alternate Weekends:
Saturday 07.30 – 19.45.
Sunday 07.30 – 19:45.
(There is the opportunity for before school hours too if required 07.30-10.30)
Non-Term Time
3 days Monday to Friday 09.30 – 19.45.
Alternate Weekends:
Saturday 07.30 – 19.45.
Sunday 07.30 – 19:45.
With additional hours being available to cover holiday and sickness throughout the year, and you could be required to accompanying the family on their holidays overseas.
Hourly Rates:
Monday to Friday £14.00 per hour.
Saturday & Sunday £16.00 per hour.
Bank holidays £28.00 per hour.
Experience & Qualities required for the role:
An experienced Support Worker who has experience of working with children with complex physical and learning disabilities.
Excellent communication skills.
The understanding of working with a family and ensuring the interaction with siblings.
Commitment to assisting the client in engaging in leisure activities and hobbies.
Experience of peg feeding, suctioning and administering medication is desirable although training will be provided.
Understanding of the need for close observation at all times monitoring health and well-being.
