Media Relations and Communications Executive
Salary £30,000 to £35,000 depending on experience

Our growing marketing team is seeking a Media Relations and Communications Executive to join us at Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve. Howletts Wild Animal Park and Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve, in conjunction with the Aspinall Foundation, are a charity-based conservation organisation committed to protecting rare and endangered animals from extinction through captive breeding and reintroduction programmes.

The ideal candidate will have an exceptional understanding of the media, communications and marketing landscape which will enable us to enter new markets and increase brand visibility.

You will be a confident self-starter, well organised individual with the ability to meet deadlines whilst working across different projects. If you are a creative thinker, excellent writer and keen to work across a large and dynamic organisation as it aims to deliver ambitious growth plans, then we want to discuss this position with you.

Reporting to the Marketing Manager responsibilities and duties will include:
• Driving newsworthy stories to raise awareness of The Aspinall Foundation, in particular the Overseas Conservation work, Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve and Howletts Wild Animal Park
• Create compelling stories as well as researching and suggesting possible news angles for a wide range of audiences
• Generate targeted news coverage, achieving free placements in broadcast, print and new media
• Assist in developing a PR calendar to support the objectives of the businesses
• Write and distribute press releases to targeted media
• Working closely with the wider team to help deliver creative integrated digital campaigns, media relations and influencer activity
• Attend and promote internal events, as well as promote news stories and features to the media
• Attend product launches and networking events
• Achieve required objectives and KPIs for each project
• Commission market research
• Collate, analyse and evaluate media coverage
• Help to plan, design and deliver communications activity to support campaigns.


The successful candidate will have:
• A relevant degree and at least three years’ experience in a similar role
• Extensive knowledge of public relations strategies and protocols
• Familiarity with digital marketing analysis tools
• Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
• Experience of social media management
• A willingness to stay on top of the latest marketing trends and developments
• Ability to work on your own initiative or as part of a team
• Excellent attention to detail
• You must be proactive, diligent, flexible and organized.
