Underwriting Analyst, Maidstone

Barker Munro Recruitment is pleased to be working with this leading provider of online insurance products who are expanding their underwriting team and are looking for an Underwriting Analyst to join their underwriting function.

The role of underwriting analyst will involve focusing on the financial performance of the underwriting team by investigating and assessing underwriting and claims performance across the business using data analysis. You will be heavily involved in investigating market trends and business patterns whilst researching market trends and factors that could influence the loss ratio of the underwriting and risks that the company write. There will be a lot of analysis and MI work so you will be able to demonstrate your ability to identify anomalies and trends and understand/theorize reasons why these have occurred.

In order to carry out the role of underwriting analyst, you will have excellent Excel skills with exposure to v-look up, pivot tables, count if and other formulae in order to work on the rating of risks, lots of spreadsheets, make recommendations to management and look into other analytical methods and analysis.

You will be heavily involved in working within an agile and driven team who are committed to using data effectively to contribute towards underwriting profitability. The role will suit a graduate or qualified by experience, who has an excellent understanding of Excel. An understanding of the insurance industry would be beneficial but not essential. Tests on Excel will be carried out during the interview process.
