The Leigh UTC and Inspiration Academy has an exciting opportunity to appoint a motivated and engaging individual who will join us as a Teaching Assistant as soon as possible. Our successful candidate will provide support for pupils who have a range of specific needs, an opportunity to make a real difference to their development. Applicants should be adaptable, personable and committed to providing an excellent service on behalf of the school and wider Trust, and above all else our appointed candidate will have a positive work ethic and can-do attitude.

This role is offered as an 18-month apprenticeship contract and our successful candidate will work towards a nationally-recognised Level 3 qualification.

Apprenticeship Summary
Annual wage: £16,157 full-time equivalent, actual annual salary £13,603
Working weeks: Monday - Friday throughout the full year
Total hours per week: 37 (including the 20% training element of the Apprenticeship) - start and finish times to be agreed
Apprenticeship duration: 18 months
Anticipated start date: ,March 2020
Apprenticeship level: Advanced Level Apprenticeship (Level 3)
Apprenticeship standard: Teaching Assistant

Essential entry qualifications: GCSEs A* - C, Maths and English (desirable)

We offer in-house Continuing Professional Development and you’ll be part of a highly experienced and efficient team – you’ll be learning from the very best!

You'll receive training, support and guidance throughout the course from a variety of people at The Leigh UTC and from the wider Trust.

Working with us: Having opened in September 2014 with state-of-the-art facilities initially for Key Stages 4 and 5, The Leigh UTC provides an exciting, innovative, business-led, problem-solving curriculum, enabling students to achieve relevant work-related qualifications and transferable skills for future training or employment. The most unique feature of The Leigh UTC is its business ethos that is emphasised by our students' behaviours and supported by our sponsors.

In September 2017, following the request of the Department for Education due to our continued success, The Leigh UTC marked history by expanding its student intake to incorporate Key Stage 3 – the first UTC in the UK to do this. Furthermore, being the first UTC to have IB World School Status has enabled us to develop strong links in Germany and Qatar. The overarching mission of the Inspiration Academy is to develop curious, academically-skilled young people who aspire to be principled, compassionate learners. Our curriculum strives to create students who are self-motivated, competent, willing to take risks and lifelong learners.

Working with Leigh Academies Trust: As of September 2019, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff. We also have three further academies in development phase, due to open between September 2020-2021. The Trust is establishing four ‘clusters’ of academies: North West Kent; Central Kent; South East London; Medway. In addition, the Trust is responsible for one of the region’s biggest initial teaching training providers and a large teaching school.
