Watts Farms has an exciting opportunity for a Transport Coordinator to join our night team within our busy Transport Department at our new site in Aylesford. You will be working on a full-time, permanent basis and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £28,000 per annum depending on experience.

About us:

Watts Farms is a third-generation family-run business which began its journey in 1952. We supply approximately 700 customers with quality products daily in London and the South East and sell around 3,000 product lines, including fresh produce of which a number are grown on our own farms. Our team now comprises of over 350 employees and is continuing to grow.

What does the job involve?

You will support the Transport Management team in all aspects of the Transport operation. You will be responsible for the efficient customer focused delivery of daily multi drop deliveries to our customers across London and the South East as the first point of contact for drivers.

The successful candidate will work in a fast-paced environment where orders are placed within the customer service team up until 11pm for delivery from Midnight onwards, ensuring routes are dispatched on time within strict time slots. The position will require effective control of costs and planning for a fleet of approximately 35 vehicles which range from vans to 18 Tonne. There will also be the requirement for open and effective communication with the team of approximately 50 drivers and relevant departments within the business.

You will be responsible for ensuring that the business is compliant with O licence obligations to present vehicles for service, record, monitor and rectify defects, download tachograph and vehicle downloads.

Responsibilities as our Transport Coordinator:

- Timely reporting of vehicle defects in line with company O Licence.
- Downloading of driver’s tacho cards at the end of every shift.
- Checking vehicles for damage and collating the relevant investigation ready for investigation.
- Timely and accurate reporting of any accidents in line with company policy.
- Proactive planning of driver’s daily workload and coordination of routes.
- Organisation of route planning, reducing business costs where possible and enhancing fleet efficiency.
- Maintaining open and constant communication to relevant departments and or management team.
- Accurate and timely completion of daily handover and resource sheet to be submitted to relevant departments and management team.
- Conducting return to work meetings with drivers and completing all relevant documentation in a timely and efficient manner and ensuring information is provided where necessary to the relevant departments.
- Managing drivers’ hours in line with the Working Time Directive and Tacho Graph rules in the UK.
- Driving Licence checks and completing pre-brief and de-briefs with drivers.
- A hands-on role where you will be expected to liaise with drivers on a daily basis.

Key requirements to become our Transport Coordinator:

- Full UK Driving licence
- Excellence in communication and to be able to demonstrate integrity in people skills.
- High attention to detail to ensure accurate recording of data and information.
- IT literate including Excel, Word and Outlook.
- Team player, self-motivated, proactive and ability to use initiative where needed.
- Ability to deliver and remain calm in a busy, fast paced environment.
- Strong organisation skills and ability to prioritise.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure, adaptable and able to make decisions.
- Experience in a similar work environment would be an advantage.
