The Role:

We are looking to appoint a part-time SUPPORT WORKER to undertake AWAKE NIGHT shifts (120 hours per month or 81.25 hours per month) based at Rosemary Cottage, Woodchurch, TN26 3RJ , So, if you are you an enthusiastic, motivated, considerate and patient individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities then join us at Canterbury Oast Trust as a SUPPORT WORKEr.

As a SUPPORT WORKER undertaking AWAKE NIGHT shifts you will be responsible for the personal safety and welfare of the adults predominately during the night, administering and monitoring medication, performing basic household duties and other tasks to help support the smooth running of the home. There may be a requirement to work day shifts on occasions. Each Awake Night shift is normally10 hours and in addition to the hourly rate you will receive an Awake Night Allowance of £24.46 per shift.

As a SUPPORT WORKEr undertaking AWAKE NIGHT shifts you will provide good quality care and support to the adults based on their needs through a person-centred approach. Rosemary Cottage is home to six adults who have learning disability needs including physical and sensory impairments. As a SUPPORT WORKER based at Rosemary Cottage you will be working with adults with a variation of complex needs.

ABOUT YOU:

AS A SUPPORT WORKER COVERING THE AWAKE NIGHT SHIFTS YOU WILL IDEALLY HAVE:

o An appreciation of the needs of adults with learning disabilities plus physical and sensory impairments
o Experience of using specialist equipment and knowledge of autism, diabetes, epilepsy would be preferable but not essential as comprehensive training is available
o To be considerate, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic and professional
o To be flexible as awake night shifts include weekends as rostered
o Sound interpersonal skills
o Good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills
o A willingness to work towards achieving a NVQ2 Diploma in Health and Social Care Qualification within 18 months of commencement
o To hold a driving licence due to our rural location
