WANTED STAFF TO SUPPORT AUTISTIC ADULTS

The Kent Autistic Trust are looking to recruit a selection of care staff to support us on a short- or long-term basis. If you have experience of adults or children with learning disabilities or autism, then we would be interested in hearing from you. You may be a care worker, nurse, teacher, teaching assistant or recreational instructor or you may have family experience of supporting people with autism. If you have a caring disposition, whatever, your background, which could be hospitality, retail etc, we would like to hear from you now if you would like to help us to support our family of autistic adults.

We cannot predict how Covid19 will affect our organisation, but we can prepare for the risk of absence that may occur as a result. Were fortunate that we have a strong dedicated team, who are committed to providing amazing care. However, even the most resilient, well trained team, are not infallible and it is of paramount importance that we continue to provide quality care to those we support.

Depending on your experience you will working alongside experienced staff to support adults with autism in a residential or supporting living setting. Our work is complex, challenging but very rewarding. Many of those we support have been cared for by our staff for long periods of time. Having caring staff around them makes their world a little easier. The impact of the changes that have already been introduced by the Government and society in response to Covid19 is acutely affecting the well being of many of those that we support. Helping to keep those we support occupied with activities from arts and crafts to games or helping them to cook and clean are all things that you help with.

There are some personal care requirements, but this will depend on your prior care experience to ensure dignity. Some of those we support have medical conditions such as epilepsy and others are non-verbal, so prior experience with supporting people with a range of medical conditions and communications needs would be good but not essential.

As a 24/7 business, we have a need for staff to undertake varying hours, including early mornings, days, late evenings and weekends. Hours will be dependent on needs, but we need full, part time and also casual hours. Whatever you can spare!

Starting wages will either be in line with the new NLW of £8.72, with an additional allowance of £1 for staff working over 37.5 hours pw. For my experienced staff we are paying up to £9.23 ph., with an additional allowance of £1 for staff working over 37.5 hours. We also pay an enhanced rate for night workers of £10.50 ph.

Please apply as detailed below or if you\'d prefer a friendly chat about the role call Anna on 07933724498, and she will arrange a time for the manager/deputy manager to call you back at a time to suit you.

For those looking for permanent opportunities, we would prefer to appoint drivers, as the logistics of our work necessitates transporting the people we support to appointments, activities or days out. However, a driving licence is not always an essential criteria for every role but may be an overriding selection criteria.

Staff also need to have a sufficient level of fitness as the role normally involves assisting people, we support with activities such as swimming which would involve you entering the pool or participating in activities such as walking or cycling. However, these activities may be limited at present due to Covid19 Restrictions.
