Operations Manager (Outbound Production)

Medway

£32k - £35k DOE

Mon - Fri (40 Hours)



Our well-established client is seeking an Operations Manager to join them on a full time and permanent basis.

If you are familiar with a busy, fast paced role within a Warehouse and Distribution environment, then this could be the perfect opportunity for you!

As the Operations Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the following tasks are carried out as required.

Duties include;

* Maintaining accurate pick, pack and despatch processes, ensuring that the customers expectations are met for all costs and quality deliverables. Checking all errors and putting preventative actions in place to ensure they do not reoccur.
* Manage an Outbound Production plan showing customer demand, allocating resources for labour, consumables and equipment ensuring that everything runs smoothly and to a timely manner. This will be updated daily, weekly and monthly to achieve an organised workload to ensure that customer satisfaction, internal costs, quality, compliance and safety objectives are all met.
* Maintain budgetary control, reports and instigates continuous improvement initiatives to improve the overall performance of the cost centre. This includes the correct labour resourcing to ensure all tasks are covered and not exceeding pre-agreed holiday quotas, absence management, and overtime control. Managing equipment downtime, reduction of defects/errors and managing indirect cost will also form part of budgetary control.
* Co-ordinating daily team briefs, communicating all expectations to the team as required. Being responsible for developing teams, holding quarterly staff appraisals, initiating relevant training, to provide holiday and sickness cover and an adequate succession plan for the long-term sustainability of the department. Ensuring a suitable deputy is fully trained to provide cover for your role whilst sick, on holiday, or working on projects.
* Maintain team compliance for all legislative & regulatory requirements relating to the storage, handling and distribution of stock. Ensure access to controlled areas are restricted including controlled drugs, fridge and hazardous, making sure correct PPE is worn at all times if deemed a risk. Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and stock located in clean pre-allocated locations, change control and training records are correctly adhered to.
* To ensure orders are released from the Workbench in a timely fashion in line with customer service times. Identify opportunities to enhance this process in terms of layout, automation and/or organization of work bench to enhance small pick and case pick workflow. To co-ordinate progress chasing of stuck orders whether they are on hold, with Inventory Control for a timely despatch of orders as per SLA. To ensure backorders and manual picks are managed in an accurate timely manner. Instigate improvement activities to ensure cost and quality goals are exceeded.
* Ensure all products are packaged accurately in compliant packaging, to promote reduced damage, reduced temperature deviation and that dangerous goods are correctly labelled, handled and despatched. Ensure correct address, mode of transport, despatch labels and any warning labels are correctly applied. Co-ordinate end of line checks, and variances are reported with adequate corrective and preventative actions.
* Ensure all legislation is adhered to when preparing goods for despatch. Ensure all orders are invoiced correctly by confirming all picks as despatched and work with the site Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor to ensure dangerous goods are correctly handled and despatched. Maintain safe standards when moving pallets in despatch and adhere to correct loading techniques including adequate stability using appropriate material.
* Conduct and maintain health and safety checks including MHE, FLT and rack inspections throughout your remit area. Ensure that all required induction, basic operations and Health and Safety training is completed for all Team Leaders in a timely manner. Ensure all equipment is used in a safe manner and by authorised personnel only.
* Internal communications including Customer Service and Sales queries answered in full and a timely fashion. Escalation e-mails answered and credits investigated and answered.
* Maintain awareness and understanding of how the department impacts customers, both internal & external, and the department's overall impact on the business operation.



If you have previous experience in a management/ senior level position within a distribution centre & can demonstrate strong leadership skills, then this may be the next step for you!

The ideal candidate will be an organised strong leader who has no trouble in delegating & overseeing a busy workload.

You will need to be a natural people's person who is confident in managing and developing people/ teams, flexible with your shift patterns depending on demand and have exceptional organisation skills!
