Your new company
Your new company is a Surrey based NHS Trust that provides a range of services and support to over half a million Surrey residents, including acute care to the most vulnerable in the area.

The Trust is based across two hospital sites which will be receiving substantial overhauls through a major investment programme which will be rolled out over the next 24 months.

Your new role
Reporting to the Deputy Head of Capital Projects and under direct supervision of the Capital Projects Lead, you will be responsible for Managing a range of refurbishment, construction and replacement projects, across an investment programme within a £5m budget.

You will manage a combination of in-house operatives such as CAD, M&E and project specialists as well as external contractors including architects and surveyors.

Specific technical responsibilities will be to carry out surveys and produce reports relating to required works, create specifications, manage the design element and produce working drawings for the project following HBN and HTMs to ensure the end results will sit within specific healthcare regulations.

You will also be responsible for managing tenders, appointing contractors and overseeing the delivery of projects within time-frames and budgets.

What you'll need to succeed
In order to succeed in this role you will need to be suitably qualified, from either an architectural or Building Surveying background, with a degree level or equivalent qualification, as a strong understanding of disrepair, defects, building materials and structural design is crucial for this role.

You will also need relevant healthcare Project Management experience, preferably working directly with a trust or private healthcare provider, as strong knowledge of HBNs and HTMs has been identified as an essential part of the job, as specific hospital build regulations exist that need to be adhered to.

The successful candidate for this role will need to be highly numerate and a strong verbal and written communicator, as you will be working to tight budgets and following strict processes, thorough reports and costings are required for sign off in order for authorisation.

What you'll get in return
In return for your work you will receive an hourly rate of pay on Band 8a of the NHS pay rate scale, which approximately translates to £31.00 per hour (premium).

The trust supports flexible working within reason and you will therefore be able to work from home on occasion where site attendance isn't required. You will be provided with a work laptop to enable you to carry out work away from the office.

You will be entitled to 20 days of annual leave + bank holidays from the start of your assignment with this increasing to 28 + BHs.

The investment programme will be a long-term scheme and therefore you will get a secure contract, ongoing for the foreseeable future, with a minimum term expected to be 6 months.

The workload you will be involved in will be challenging and rewarding in nature, with your input directly impacting the quality and efficiency of the hospitals and the service potential, improving patient experience and the support and services that the staff can provide to their patients.
