Job Title: Line Leader
Location: South Ashford
Shift: Alternate weekends, 4 on 3 off (10 hour shifts) 40 hours per week
Hourly rate: £10.50 per hour
Hours :06:00am to 5:00pm

We are currently looking for 3 day shift Line Leaders to join our team; this is a fixed term position. The fixed term will come to an end on the 23rd July 2021. This position includes alternate weekends, this a 4 on 3 off shift pattern. Shifts are 10 hours with 1 hour unpaid breaks. Breaks are split into 3 breaks (20 min.30 min,15 min).


• Monitor production processes in order to maximise line efficiency and production output.
• Communicate tasks and everyday workload effectively to line staff.
• Ensure competent and safe operation of all aspects of machines.
• Ensure accurate completion of paperwork and all other relevant documents.
• Ensure company procedures for health and safety are being followed.
• Hygiene and food safety are being followed
• Report any issues or breakdowns to the Production Managers or Engineers.

Griffin & Brand is an independent company based in Ashford Kent, fully owned by the Elliott family. The company was established in 1967, as an importer of fresh produce. Griffin & Brand currently supplying supermarkets with fresh produce.

Your Experience
We are seeking a committed and positive individual with previous experience working with production machines or performing production processes most preferably with FMCG/food manufacturing. You will possess a positive ‘can-do’ attitude, have excellent problem-solving skills and be well organised and results orientated. Fluency in English, both verbal and written is essential together with good numerical ability.

Your responsibilities will include:
• Production line workers – To give orders and instruction to production line workers so that each member of the Production line is aware of what they need to do and what they’re responsible for to maximise quality and productivity.
• Complete Paperwork - To complete paperwork and any associated administrative tasks related to the production line, from updating records, to show what’s been completed, to noting any machine issues.
• Set Up Production Lines - To assign tasks based on what orders have come in and which members of the team are working. They set up the Production line to complete these orders efficiently.
• Identify Production Line Issues - If there are any issues with production or fulfilling orders on time the Line Leader needs to quickly identify these problems and find ways to resolve them so that deadlines are still met without compromising quality.
• Hygiene standards – Maintaining good hygiene standards in the Packhouse and surrounding area. Ensure that daily and weekly cleaning is carried out effectively and efficiently.
• Line packing - Packing on production lines when needed.
• Enforce Regulations - Ensure that all members of the team follow company policies and procedures, and that Healthy and Safety regulations are being enforced to meet safety compliance.
• Quality issues - Communicating any quality issues and changes in product specifications to production staff. Report any evidence of unsafe or out of specification product to senior management.
• Training and motivation of staff – Line leaders are responsible for the management, training and motivation of Line staff. Manage staff performance (output, timekeeping, compliance training).
• Line Efficiency - Track current performance against box rates and ensure line is running to it optimum output.. Record and escalate any issues affecting line efficiency report to Supervisors / Management.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
