The School of Mathematics, Statistics and Actuarial Science is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Statistics to join its Statistics group. The Statistics group has a strong reputation for world-leading research, specialising in Data Science, Machine Learning and Ecological Statistics.
We invite applications from candidates with research interests that complement or enhance the group’s existing research strengths. The post holder will be expected to make a strong contribution to teaching and administration within the Statistics group in the school and will be expected to participate in the development and delivery of our new BSc in Data Science as well as on existing programmes including statistical modules within our Mathematics, Financial Mathematics and Actuarial Science degree programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
As Lecturer in Statistics you will:
• undertake teaching of both undergraduate and postgraduate students, including the development of new modules and providing support for student learning
• develop and extend your existing successful research career, writing research papers of the highest quality and securing external funding
• collaborate with colleagues in the School on course development, delivery and assessment, taking on appropriate management and administrative responsibilities
To succeed in this role you will have:
• PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant discipline by 1 August 2021
• research experience in a thematic area aligned to Statistics and/or Data Science and recent track record of publication in leading international journals
• ability to make a strong contribution to the research undertaken in the School in an area relevant to Statistics and/or Data Science
