The University of Kent Academies Trust are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic individual for the role of Management Information Assistant to proactively support the Management Information Officer with all aspects of maintaining the Trust management information system. This is a UKAT role so the post holder will be required to work at both our Brompton Academy, Gillingham and Chatham Grammar, Chatham sites.

This is a term time only role and we are happy to discuss the working pattern with the successful candidate. Flexibility will be required, and the post holder may be required to work during some of the school holidays, such as a week during the summer break to process examination results. Additional hours will be paid in addition to the advertised salary and will be notified well in advance.

The successful candidate will be an advanced user of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, and ideally will have experience of management information systems used in an education setting. Currently our academies use SIMs and SMID.

This is a new role within the Trust, and you will be joining and experienced department where you will be exposed to aspects of assessment, data, timetabling and statutory returns. This is an ideal entry role for those looking to develop their skills or knowledge with a view to a career with timetabling or data.

Purpose and Vision
Using systems implemented by the Management Information Officer, to assist with all aspects of
data management and analysis within the Trust.
Key responsibilities
Data
1. Maintenance of the student database (currently SIMs) in accordance with best practice,
ensuring the system is fit for purpose and up-to-date
2. Obtain students’ prior attainment levels from the DfE and ensure targets are set accordingly
3. Conduct regular audits of the database prior to the completion of the student census.
4. System administration of free school meals at Brompton Academy
5. Support the Academy timetabler in the maintenance of the timetable
6. Assist in the production of the student census at both academies, liaising with appropriate
staff in order to authorise the returns
7. Liaise with specialist staff and respond to their requests for system changes, such as
adding behaviour types
8. Maintain and continue the systems placed by the Management Information Officer
9. Present data in an agreed format as required by the data calendar, including the upload of
data to SMID (web-based analysis tool).
10. Make recommendations on school data collection, methods of analysis and methods of
collection to improve current systems to the Management Information officer for their
consideration
11. Creation of class marksheets for data collection and co-ordinating the collection of data as
dictated by the Assessment Calendar.
12. Assist with DfE Tables checking exercise (in June and September)
13. Assist with the analysis of external exam results (August)
14. Production and distribution of student reports to parents/carers.
15. Create and run basic bespoke reports as required by stakeholders, referring complex
requests to the Management Information Officer
16. Flexibility to support other MIS users as and when necessary (e.g. entering of admission
paperwork onto the MIS).
17. Deliver induction training for new staff on the use of the MIS and SMID.
18. Maintain an awareness of legislation and software up-dates that require the collection of
additional information
19. Manage own workload raising issues with Management Information Officer
20. Undertake training and development activities as required
21. To travel to academies within the Trust providing support where needed as directed by the
Management Information Officer
22. Any other duty as required by the line manager commensurate with the post
