Location: Gravesend, Dartford, Sevenoaks and Swanley (will include travel across Kent)

About us: Porchlight is a charity supporting people who are homeless, vulnerable and isolated. At Porchlight, we are passionate about helping vulnerable people to reach their full potential. We strive for a fairer society where vulnerable people find stability, the most excluded are included, and where homelessness and poverty are things of the past.

The role: You will be part of The BeYou Project - our support service for LGBT+ young people. You will help run BeYou meet-ups – safe spaces where they can be themselves and socialise (these are currently being held online due to Covid restrictions but will be run face-to-face when it’s safe to do so).

You’ll help the young people develop the skills and confidence they need to be active members of these and their local community. This will include providing LGBT related support, understanding or information they may not be able to access at home or at school.

You will also provide one-to-one support for a small number of LGBT+ young people, and be available to offer advice and guidance to their families (when appropriate).


What you need:

- Someone who can talk with, motivate and engage young people
- You should have a good understanding of the issues LGBT+ young people face and be committed to building LGBT+ communities
- Experience of designing, promoting and managing youth group programmes
- The energy and enthusiasm to help us drive our BeYou service forward to change the lives of more LGBT+ young people
- A commitment to Porchlight’s safeguarding policies and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk.
