Job Title: Accounts Assistant/Manager (Construction experience essential)

Location: Maidstone (Office based)

Salary: £25k-£30k

Hours: Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm

Culture: Modern, forward thinking Construction company with a small office with 4 office employees.

Your key responsibilities would be as an Accounts Assistant/Manager would be:

* Manage the accounting functions including maintenance of general ledgers, accounts payable, accounts receivable and project accounting, ensuing accuracy and timeliness using Eque2 & Sage software, as well as the management of hard copy records.
* Review of all invoices to ensure correctly raised including correct allocation of VAT percentage, deduction of retentions, correct project etc.
* Process month-end payments ensuring all relevant/applicable documents are in place to allow payments such a payment notices, purchase orders and matching invoices.
* Completion of bank and credit card reconciliations.
* Ensure accurate posting of invoices and costs on Eque2 & Sage to the relevant projects and cost codes.
* Manage monthly closing of financial records and posting of month end information, ensuring accuracy of financial statements.
* Develop, implement, and maintain systems, procedures and policies, including accounts payable functions to ensure adherence to company guidelines.
* Produce returns on Sage for review and submission of monthly returns to HMRC.
* Help maintain accurate VAT records, VAT calculations, receipts and expenses, to ensure the monthly VAT return is accurate and presented in a timely manner for review.
* Manage and process sub-contractor retentions ensuring the accuracy of retentions held on Eque2.
* Process monthly payroll on Sage payroll including staff payments, distribution of payslips, payments to HMRC and pension contributions, including RTI submissions
* Creating new supplier/sub-contractors accounts and obtaining all relevant information using 'New Contractor' form including confirmation of bank details, verification & relevant insurances.
* Ensure all relevant sub-contractor records are up to date, entering status change information into project accounting software to ensure information is accurate.
* Managing Vendor information or procurement records to ensure data is maintained and meets with General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
* Provide accounting assistance to project managers and operations staff; responds to financial questions/concerns to meet business needs.
* Maintaining of Company accounts files to ensure appropriate records for external stakeholders such as Accountants and HMRC.
* Office Manager duties to ensure stationery, toiletries, and kitchen items well stocked.

Skills and experience required;

* Experience working as an Accounts Assistant/Manager within a Construction company is essential
* Sage 50 software (essential)
* Sage Payroll (desirable)
* Eque2 (desirable)
