Assistant Underwriter

Barker Munro Recruitment specialises in the recruitment of Insurance staff across Kent and the South East. As experts in our field, we are currently working with this fantastic insurance business who are currently looking to add to their underwriting team with the recruitment of a of an Assistant Underwriter.

As an assistant underwriter, you will work as part of the underwriting function developing and maintaining client relationships in order to increase growth with the UK based portfolio.

The assistant underwriter will take telephone calls, provide mid-term adjustments, underwrite renewals and new business whilst prospecting new and existing business. You will have the ability to develop an excellent understanding and working knowledge of the products that are on offer to clients and work under set guidelines in order to achieve set goals and targets for the underwriting team. There is also a requirement to ensure there is customer focus at all times. Customer excellent is paramount and exceptionally high standards of customer service are provided at all times.

Candidates who wish to be considered for the role of assistant underwriter do not necessarily need to come from underwriting but some kind of insurance exposure would be ideal. This could come from underwriting, broking, claims or just insurance customer service. There is also an idea that exposure to the property or conveyancing markets may give you a good grounding in understanding the complexities around this underwriting position. Training and support will be provided to the successful assistant underwriter and there will also be the option to take on qualifications specifically within the insurance industry such as CII exams.

This is an excellent position for someone to move into underwriting or for a broking person to make the jump to the other side. A fantastic opportunity and something that doesn't come up often.
