King’s Rochester is looking to recruit a qualified counsellor to support the pastoral work of the school. We have recently acquired a space for a Wellbeing Centre and are keen to develop this area for the pupils and staff. We are wanting to find a compassionate and understanding counsellor, who can creatively develop the Centre into a hub of wellbeing for the whole school. The post will involve one to one counselling (Preparatory and Senior School ages), group sessions and drop-ins. There will be the opportunity for input into the pastoral curriculum, and some availability to support staff. The right candidate will be able to develop the role and enjoy flexibility within the required weekly hours (term-time only).

The successful candidate will be suitably qualified with a level 5 diploma (or equivalent) and will be a member of a professional counselling organisation. They will have had experience of working with children and adolescents in a therapeutic way and be able to take a pluralistic approach to therapy, with an emphasis on CBT where appropriate. The successful candidate will liaise with the pastoral team and Medical Centre, whilst maintaining appropriate confidentiality. They will be compliant with relevant safeguarding training and be cognisant with the Government’s Keeping Children Safe in Education policies and the ethical framework of their professional organisation.

Closing date for applications is Friday, 10th June 2022, with interviews being held during week commencing 13th June 2022.
