Join our highly-regarded team at the University's Kent Business School. This exciting opportunity is for an experienced HR Adviser (1.0 FTE) on 12 month fixed term contract for Maternity cover, to join our devolved HR team.

Reporting to the HR Manager, you'll contribute to the delivery of a tailored HR service with specific responsibility for ER and recruitment for the division. This is a generalist role and you'll work closely with line managers providing them with the support, guidance and expertise needed to resolve people-related issues and resource the organisation effectively.

This role works in a devolved HR structure and you'll need to strike the balance between implementing local HR practices that are needed within the division, and ensuring that University policies, procedures and guidance are adhered to, enabling consistency and ultimately mitigating people-related risks. You'll develop strong relationships with all functions within the central Human Resources & Organisational Development directorate, as well as with other devolved HR colleagues across the University. HR is at the heart of everybody’s working life at Kent and our devolved structure makes this stronger.

To succeed, you'll have:

recent generalist HR experience in an employee-focused role

a proven track record of providing HR guidance and support to line managers, without close supervision

a background as an experienced recruiter

knowledge of all aspects of human resources matters

a thorough and up to date understanding of employment legislation.

The University of Kent is a distinctive and attractive place to work. Our staff enjoy competitive salaries, an occupational pension scheme, very generous holiday entitlements and a great working environment. We also offer hybrid working options.

Please see the link below to view the full Job Description. If you believe you meet the essential criteria as outlined in the attached Job Description, we welcome your application. Besides completing an application form, you'll be expected to upload an up-to-date CV and personal statement of no more than one side of A4 outlining your suitability for the role. It is important you demonstrate how you meet the essential criteria.

Kent Business School is an international Business School, with a global reputation for delivering research and teaching excellence. We are proud to be part of the 1% of global business schools worldwide to gain 'Triple Crown' accreditation from three top business organisations: European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS) from the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and The Association of MBAs (AMBA).

As a dual-intensive Business School with an equal focus on education and research, our distinctiveness comes from a forward-thinking approach to business education. We place sustainable innovation at the heart of our educational outlook, underpinned by world-class research.

The role will be based at our Canterbury Campus, supporting a community of nearly 200 academic and professional services staff. You will form part of a 50+ strong Professional Services team that supports the operational running of the Business School at both our Medway and Canterbury campuses.
