We have taken on a role for a growing company based in Dartford which operates in the Power, Utilities and Civil Engineering sectors.
This is a new role to the company, which is growing to the point where they need an experienced Quantity Surveyor to assist with business growth, and ensure that tenders are being maximised and won as much as possible.
A degree qualified Quantity Surveyor is required for this role.
The job spec is as follows:
• Preparation of Estimation & Costing, Quantity Surveying, Variation Orders, Claims, final
Accounts, Sub-Contracts, Payment Certificates, Cost Control, Cost Engineering,
Progress Coordination.
To be able to read and understand all forms of drawings and perspective and interpret
the same together with other contract documents such as schedules, specifications,
scope of work.
• To prepare detailed accurate quantity take offs based on the Issued for Construction
(IFC) documents/drawings, project specification and scope of work.
• Prepare sketches and dimensions on the IFC drawings, by manual or using Auto-CAD or
PDF softwares to be able to support the quantities on the ledger.
• Must be fluent in Microsoft Excel and able to prepare quantification with breakdown
structure and pricing using MS Excel spreadsheets.
• To prepare comparison from contract drawings against Bid drawings, identify changes
and prepare cost calculation if there is cost impact.
• Preparation of BOQ for all disciplines, budgetary cost, Preparation of cost estimate for
Owner's consideration, addenda to Contract Documents, answer to Bidder's Queries
and Bids Evaluation Report.
• Preparation of generic & site specific BOQs, Scope of work, and Specifications for Work
Plan Packages of GPT.
• Prepare Change Order calculations using basic unit rates, time unit rates or by building
up new rates.
• Prepare work load schedule for at least two months and ensure that target dates for
submission to clients.
• Review of Variation Orders and reconciliation of site-specific quantities.
• Progress co-ordination for supervision sites.
• Preparation of detail cost analysis.
• Review of Payment Applications, evaluation of Progress Statements and Issuance of
Payment Certificates.
• Review, Discuss, Negotiation and Preparation of change orders.
• Preparation of briefs in defence of the company's disputes with Sub-Contractors and
Suppliers at Grievance Court appearance.
• Check and process contractor's Payment Applications.
• Prepare accurate cash flow statements for the construction Projects
• Review of Contractor's claim for Variations, price analysis for new items.
• Conduct normal accounting measurements on estimated and actual cost variations and
provide reports on findings and recommendations. Prepare Variation Order.
Skills
Experience in Electrical /Civil construction projects
Must have experience using industry standard method of measurement and able to
understand the Contract Documents, Sub-contract documents/formats, in particular, the
project specific Method of Measurement, specification, Contract BOO, and
correspondence during bidding stage. Sub-Contract formats shall include; - Lump Sum,
Unit Rate I Re-measurable, Equipment Hire Agreement, Lease Agreement, Supply
Agreements and Purchase Orders.
Knowledge of Price analysis and cost component,
Variation Orders (Addition and Omissions) Management
Hands on experience in Microsoft Project, MS Excel, MS Word.
Understanding of NEC contracts
