Involved with highways, coastal; footpaths; drainage; water; marine; contracts for Sussex's top civils projects for clients including local authorities, highways, water providers; private clients and environment organisations etc. An engaging and people-focussed company.

Your new role

* Prepare work to be estimated by gathering construction documents, specification, and other related documents.
* Develop accurate estimates utilising available software such as Conquest / Estimate. Utilising other available tools, industry and estimating best practices.
* Preparation of estimates and tenders at each stage of the project.
* Be able to produce a range of project values from standard £50k to £ 10m complex tenders.
* Take responsibility, under minimum supervision, for the bid preparation, completion, and submission. Attend tender adjudications.
* Sourcing quotations for both sub-contractors and supply chain plus calculation of site management and preliminary costs.
* Build up estimates through a selection of first principles: people, plant, materials, and subcontract costs.
* Engage with clients to understand their needs, resolve queries, provide confidence in our approach, and confirm understanding of tender submissions
* Participate in contract appraisals and adjudications.
* Ability to produce outline method statements and programmes.
* Ensure proper handover of the tender to the project delivery team in accordance with company standards and procedures. In addition to work alongside the operational and commercial teams to maximise opportunities and minimise risks to achieve the best possible project costs.

What you'll need to succeed

* Minimum of 3 years' experience of estimating
* Civil engineering experience desirable
* Good understanding of the NEC / JCT contracts.
* Ability to achieve tight deadlines.
* Ability to communicate at all levels, both verbally and written
