Working for a global manufacturer at the Gillingham operations, as Manufacturing Assembly Engineer, you will support activities to ensure that all components, products and assemblies are produced to the required quality and quantity, in the most efficient time and cost effective manner, whilst supporting the Project Management and Engineering team's project deliverables.

The role

* Defining the manufacturing and assembly method/process for prototype components and assembly - creating manufacturing / assembly routing
* Building product to a defined order schedule.
* Defining, ordering and manufacturing of special tooling as required.
* Identifying supplementary processes from sub-contract specialists; agreeing the process parameters/drawing features/tolerancing to ensure compliance with engineering drawing requirements.
* Recommend improvement processes and product quality.
* Writes work instructions
* Support training plans for team members.
* Define supporting documentation for works orders
* Establish first off sign off and maintain required quality standard
* Define calibration and control of all assembly equipment
* Oversee the cleanliness testing facility and completion of cleanliness audits.
* Complete inspection and preparation of products for despatch.
* Complete Risk and COSHH assessments
* Define front line maintenance and basic fault diagnosis

You should possess sound understanding of engineering principles and manufacturing/assembly processes, be competent with engineering drawings and specifications and have excellent knowledge of assembly techniques and processes. Experience of collecting QMS data to qualify products and components is essential. Ideally you will be degree (or equivalent) educated, be familiar with CAD/Solidworks and familiar working in a prototype, small batch environment, along with knowledge with of GD&T.
