Senior Android Developer

This role is for a Senior Android Developer with Java and/or Kotlin experience, working in our client's application scrum team with a focus on development, mentoring and knowledge transfer. The role will be responsible for application development; working closely with other multi-disciplined engineers in the team to complete analysis, feasibility, design and implementation of requirements from both internal and external customers to deliver an application that will reside on the latest Android payment devices.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Providing technical Android leadership within their team
· Demonstrating strong problem-solving skills
· Utilising; TDD, BDD, and Continuous Integration
· Imparting skills and knowledge in a small team
· Introducing Open Source products/tools as appropriate to optimise the delivery timescale and quality of the software product.

ROLE:
· Create, maintain and execute unit tests
· Isolating software problems, producing clear and detailed analysis to fix the associated problem
· Verify implementation of work items against defined acceptance criterion
· Participate in planning, reviews, retrospectives and estimations with the team
· Provide clear and concise solution improvements for applications
· Embracing new technologies and development techniques to help improve solution quality, security and performance

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Required
· Minimum 5+ years of experience developing native applications for Android in Java and/or Kotlin
· A test-first development mentality using TDD and knowledge of unit, UI testing and testing pyramids
· Demonstrable understanding of S.O.L.I.D. principles and Object-Oriented patterns.
· Knowledge of Clean Architecture patterns such as MVVM, MVP, etc.
· Able to provide examples of clean, self-documenting, readable code.
· Version Control using GIT.
Desirable
· Experience of Agile software delivery methods and a strong understanding of agile principles and mindset
· Excellent communication and mentoring skills, good verbal and written communication
· Interest in keeping up-to-date with current industry trends and changes with the ability to evaluate and propose new ideas and solutions
· Experience of working with applications that support multiple versions of Android
· Experience of automated testing with Android applications
· Experience in Kotlin desirable

WORKING CONDITIONS
The role will primarily be based in the Maidstone office; however, the need may arise to travel and visit other office locations within the UK. Some projects meetings may also be held at customer sites.
