ASSOCIATION OF INSHORE FISHERIES AND CONSERVATION AUTHORITIES
IFCA National Lead Training Officer
Salary: £39,812pa to £45,589pa
Location: Flexible (home based with travel around England)
Type of position: Permanent
Could you develop and enhance the skills that our officers need to protect marine life and their habitats in the coasts around England?
Training of Inshore Fisheries and Conservation Officers (IFCOs) in order to carry out the duties required of them under the Marine and Coastal Access Act 2009 is important to the success and effectiveness of IFCAs, and is vital if we are to continue the key work of IFCAs in UK marine management. This is a highly adaptive role which will make a tangible difference to the real-world management and enforcement of fisheries and MPAs across England.
About the role
Building upon the training structures already in place you will be responsible for developing, administering and delivering training across the country to all IFCAs at a national standardised level both in person and remotely. You will increase the motivation, performance, skills and outlook of staff and deliver feedback to senior management on their progress. This work will include the delivery of existing enforcement and compliance training packages, development of new packages and working closely with partner organisations to deliver a national accredited Fishery Officer training program.
About you
To join us, you must have enthusiasm for the marine environment and a knowledge of marine issues and the fishing industry together with a strong drive to instruct our officers to enforce rules protecting fish stocks, marine habitats and marine wildlife. You will be passionate about the development of training and will have gained experience in identifying training needs and developing training based on these. You’ll combine this with excellent communication skills, an organised approach and a gift for teamwork and collaboration
The first round interviews for this post will be held week commencing 16 November 2020 via Microsoft Teams. If you are selected for an interview you will be expected to provide a ten minute presentation to the interview panel.
