We are working with Ashford Borough to recruit a temporary Senior Accountant. Working with in the Finance team, this role will require either a qualified candidate, or an individual who has extensive experience of working within local authority or County finance functions. Initially for a period of up to 12 months, with potential for the role to be permanent.

Duties will include:

* Producing and presenting reports to management and members committees
* Support Service Manager, providing advice and guidance on complex financial matters
* Use resource effectively to deliver key priorities and ensure budget performance issues are identified and addressed
* Leading on the closure of accounts
* Holding responsibility for the Collection Fund accounting, through to budget, monitoring, closing and overall management
* Contributing to the achievement of commercial, technical and organisation objectives - particularly providing technical support, advising on changes to accounting standards and supporting the team to update processes

Candidates applying will have experience in some or all of: treasury management, housing revenue accounting, collection fund, tax accounting, capital and company accounting.

The role can be undertaken on a remote basis, with an understanding of the requirement to attend meetings, as necessary, in Ashford.
