Residential Support Officer

 

Hours: 25 hours per week (6:30pm – 11:30pm Sunday to Thursday), 36 weeks per annum

 

Salary: £11,982.33 per annum + £2,235.97 Holiday Pay (£25,686 Full-Time Equivalent)

 

Location: This role is based at our Hadlow College campus.

 

Here at our Hadlow College, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced individual to join our friendly team as a Residential Support Officer.  

 

Working during term times when students are in residence, you will work with the students to fully engage with their studies.

 

The successful candidate will have responsibility of ensuring the physical safety and wellbeing of students living in residential accommodation, often living away, independently for the first time. The Residential Support Officers work collaboratively to positively engage the residential students in all aspects of college life including participating in the delivery of a student-centred, diverse and exciting programme of engagement in a personal and social development programme, which includes Learner Voice, Student Union, enrichment and health & wellbeing activities.

 

An excellent understanding of student safeguarding and welfare is paramount to be successful in this role, including the understanding of relevant legislation and the national minimum standards for residential provision, although full training will be provided to the successful candidate.

 

You will be educated to a Level 3 standard (minimum) in a related discipline i.e. social care, mentoring, informal education or youth work and hold a at least a Level 2 qualification in English and Maths.

 

Experience of working in an education and/or residential setting would be an advantage as will an understanding of the barriers that can impact student engagement in further and higher education.  

 

Strong organisational skills, excellent communication and a high standard of computer literacy are also essential requirements as well as the ability to relate to students across all levels of study and the ability to build professional relationships with staff in college and with community partners.
