Hydraulic and Engineering Services Ltd is a versatile engineering company specialising in the repair, supply and manufacture of hydraulic cylinders and associated hydraulic equipment relating to machinery, mobile plant, cranes and marine.
Our Site Service division cover a range of disciplines including diagnostic work, new installations, removal and re-installations of components, upgrades, renewals, hose replacement service, and system monitoring.
We are a privately owned company with over 30 years of experience in the industry; we currently employ 25 employees across the range of disciplines we operate in.

Hydraulic and Engineering Services Ltd, a leading hydraulic repair company, is in search of a motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Machinist. This is a fantastic opportunity to learn and grow within a dynamic work environment while gaining hands-on experience in the world of machining.
Responsibilities:
1. Learn and Operate Machinery: Collaborate with experienced machinists to comprehend and operate various machining tools such as lathes, milling machines, and CNC equipment.
2. Reading Engineering Drawings: Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to grasp product specifications and machining requirements.
3. Quality Control: Ensure precision and accuracy in every machined product by conducting quality checks and inspections.
4. Tool Maintenance: Acquire skills in maintaining and caring for machining tools, ensuring their optimal functionality.
5. Safety: Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to promote a secure working environment.
6. Problem Solving: Work with the team to troubleshoot and resolve machining issues, contributing to continuous improvement.
Qualifications:
1. Educational Background: GCSEs or equivalent grades 9-4; a level 2 engineering qualification or relevant work experience would be advantageous.
2. Technical Aptitude: Strong interest in precision machining and mechanical aptitude.
3. Attention to Detail: Keen attention to detail and the ability to follow technical specifications accurately.
4. Team Player: Willingness to collaborate with team members and learn from experienced machinists.
5. Initiative: Proactive and eager to take on new challenges with a positive attitude.
6. Safety Conscious: Understanding and commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
Hours of Work:
• 40hrs
• 8am to 4.30pm, Monday to Friday
• Salary depending on experience
• Overtime available – Monday to Friday, x1.5hrs , x2hrs Sundays.
