Background of department/role

The development of apprenticeships is identified as a strategic growth area for Canterbury Christ Church University. They will play a critical role in meeting regional and employer needs and are planned to bring a large increase in student numbers to the University across many subject areas in all faculties. In March 2017, the University gained a place on the Register of Apprenticeship Training Providers, which allows apprenticeship delivery to begin.

The UK Partnerships and Apprenticeships Unit (UKPAU) are responsible for supporting in the development and running of Higher and Degree Apprenticeships throughout the University. We currently work with over 90 employers and over 700 apprentices. The Apprenticeships Unit is an exciting and dynamic team working across the University and with apprenticeship employers to deliver high quality and industry relevant undergraduate and postgraduate qualifications.

We are now seeking to recruit an Apprenticeships Officer to support our work in maintaining and growing apprenticeships both in terms of the range of programmes offered and the number of apprentices enrolled.

What We Need

We are looking for someone with excellent communication skills and the ability to use own initiative to resolve problems and prioritise workload. We also require someone with planning skills; an attention to detail; strong organisational and time management skills.

Attention to detail is key. We would like someone to support the Apprenticeship Manager to ensure statutory returns are completed appropriately and on time while ensuring the university is audit ready and tracking all contractual KPI.

The role holder is required to use their knowledge of the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) apprenticeship funding rules to represent The Apprenticeship Unit as required.

The role holder will work closely with the TAU team and apprenticeship programme directors to ensure a coordinated approach across all stakeholders and learners.

Flexible Working

We are committed to supporting flexible methods of working wherever possible. Campus attendance will vary on a day-to-day basis and across the year but must purposefully align to the needs of our learners, staff, and stakeholders. It is expected that there will be a relatively even balance between time spent on and off campus, but in most cases the work location will be determined by the service required or the tasks/activities being undertaken
