Background

We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly Simulation Team in our state-of-the-art simulation department at CCCU and the University of Kent. You will be part of a team that supports innovative, high-quality simulation and skills-based education for our students in the Faculty of Medicine, Health and Social Care, ensuring they attain the highest standards of clinical skills in preparation for their professional roles.

This position offers the added opportunity to work jointly with our KMMS medical students delivering their specialist GP training (0.6 FTE) as well as simulation learning and teaching for the wider faculty at our Canterbury campus (0.4 FTE).

The Role

As a simulation technician you will work collaboratively with academics, students and university departments to provide the technical support essential to the delivery of our simulation and skills-based learning. You will have a mainly practical role in the running of the simulation suite, with some administrative duties. The post holder will interact and support faculty and students with the preparation and delivery of teaching sessions; setting-up teaching spaces and equipment and taking-down and tidying after events. The post holder will provide technical support during sessions and undertake training of staff and students in the use of our skills equipment, such as life-size person manikins, partial anatomy or task trainers, AR/VR equipment. You will also be responsible for the maintenance of equipment, management of stocks of consumables and assistance with the management of rooms, room bookings and University events.

The Person

You will be educated to (RQF) Level 4, e.g NVQ, Diploma, higher apprenticeship, certificate of higher education or have considerable previous relevant work experience. Experience in a similar role is desirable, but interested applicants who can demonstrate good technical and organisational skills will also be considered. You must be able to demonstrate an interest in technical/practical-based learning, with an ability to teach basic technical skills.

You must be able to demonstrate significant abilities in time-management and independent working alongside good organisational and communication skills.

This post reports to the Faculty Director of Simulation at CCCU and the GP practice lead at KMMS
