Zero hours Support Worker

St Leonards on Sea (complex health and medical needs)

Responsible to: Supervising Social Worker

Role summary
Support work is a varied but rewarding role. The nature of duties very much depends on the need of the child being supported and the foster carer(s) concerned, therefore it is difficult to give an exact job description. If you have applied for the role with a specific child/family in mind, you will already have an idea of the kind of duties which you would be asked to undertake.
Support workers provide occasional support to our foster children and their foster carers.
This is based on need and allows carers to have regular support from other trained professionals providing specialist care. Support workers provide personalised care to children and young people with disabilities, learning difficulties and medical needs to benefit the children and support their plans. These duties vary considerably from child to child. You may be involved in supervising children in contact sessions with their birth families, taking the child on fun days out or transporting them to a particular venue and collecting again. All of this would be discussed in advance with you.

Some examples of duties and responsibilities
Commensurate with prior experience and training we may ask you to complete some or all of the following tasks.
• Provide support to children and young people who have varied disabilities and to assist with or provide transport to community-based activities and other social and leisure activities.
• Provide enriching support to children to encourage a sense of community and to enable them to reach their potential.
• Attend paid training sessions (most undertaken online) both on core aspects of care
and specific training to meet the needs of the children matched to you.
• Maintain appropriate and quality recording of all sessions, reported to Credo Care in a timely and detailed fashion.
• Assist with, undertake or facilitate any casework as necessary with a child in negotiation with the placing authority, eg life story work, identity work, etc.
• Attend and participate in child care reviews, case conferences and other meetings
as appropriate.
• Help to provide independent life skills in preparation for leaving care.

post held.
