The Role
The Group Leader is the first line manager of a team of System Specialists and Technicians responsible for a specific area of activity within the Infrastructure Division in respect of preventative/corrective maintenance and minor projects, which ensures the Eurotunnel Infrastructure remains available, safe and reliable for customers.

The principal purpose is the first line management and leadership of the team ensuring application of all Human Resources policies and Getlink Group principles.
Works in coordination with the Technical Lead deploying the team to support asset management, data collection and analysis and team expertise in response to technical questions from Project Managers. Delegates to the team and oversees areas for continuous improvement as identified by the Technical Lead.
Principal Accountabilities, Qualifications and Experience

• First line management of the team ensuring all activities are compliant with health, safety and environmental standards, legislation and best practice, and more generally GetLink/Eurotunnel’s policies, engineering standards, risk assessments and principles.
• Focused on people management, development, leading by example, with strict adherence and application of Eurotunnel policies and procedures.
• Engage his/her teams in a safe & compliant environment to deliver sustainable business success, in alignment with GetLink’s Leadership Model.
• Accountable for ensuring team competence management is delivered in accordance with Eurotunnel’s CMS, welfare, behaviour, safety and standards. Supports the development and learning of apprentices and students in accordance with Infrastructure requirements.
• Applies and promotes change management, new departmental strategies and objectives in accordance with divisional and company objectives. A mindset of continuous improvement maintaining an efficient, productive lean and agile team.
• Works alongside the Technical Lead to manage, develop, promote and support the department’s assets to maximise life expectancy and meet customer expectation and legislative requirements. Anticipates LSM and renewal programs with no impact to safety, service or maintenance operations. Leads the team to ensure that the department’s assets are safety, fit for purpose, available and reliable. This includes emergency response within Eurotunnel concession in accordance with the MOR’s. Remains personally available in the event of operational crisis.
• Supports the departmental Manager in OPEX management and the Manager / Technical Lead in CAPEX budget forecasts, ensuring budget allocations are respected and accurate.
• Responsible for team delivery of Infrastructure maintenance obligations, provision of support to Infrastructure Projects. Team planning, competence management, quality and standards control within the team.
• Responsible for the planning, competency management, standards and quality control of the team. This includes deploying the team to support for Infrastructure maintenance obligations and projects.
• Ensures all maintenance and engineering work is carried out to the highest possible standards in compliance with industry standards including CSM-RA and CDM regulations (UK) where applicable. This includes real time contractor management and periodic reviews of contractor activity to ensure standards are at least equal to those of Eurotunnel. Oversees and manages internal projects outside the scope of the project management team.
• At the request of the Department Manager intervenes or supports any area of the business as required, this includes representing the department manager during absence, project consultancy, incident/crisis management, accident/incident investigation and support of the Human Resources Team conducting employee investigations.
• Ideally holds a Degree, HNC Level Engineering qualification, ideally within the field of activity of the department managed.
• A health and Safety (H&S) qualification, NEBOSH/IOSH etc, would be an advantage.
• Qualification in NVQ A1 Assessor and knowledge of risk assessments.
• Previous experience in a leading Engineering and/or Operational role is desirable.
• Knowledge and experience of a railway engineering and operational environment is desirable.
• Knowledge and experience in an Engineering Technician role.
• Knowledge and experience in Safety/crisis/incident management.
• Experience in Change Management.
• Accident investigation and root cause analysis experience.
• Very good knowledge of internal and external regulations/standards in the Health & Safety, Quality and Environment fields.
• A valid Driving Licence and Passport is essential.
• The ability to communicate in French and/or another European language would be an advantage.
