Management Accountant
  Up to £50000 - depending on experience
  Sittingbourne, Kent

Job purpose:
The Management Accountant plays a critical role in the company and is responsible for providing financial reporting and analytical support to the Finance Director.

Attributes required:
Strong verbal and written communications skills. Ability to influence others and challenge decisions. Methodical and commercial mindset. Excellent eye for detail and knowledge of accountancy regulations. Ability to discuss financial issues with non-finance staff. Contribute to the strategic direction of the company from a financial perspective. This role would suit someone with an audit background who is able to analyse and report on figures at a high level.

Job role:
Key Accountabilities (Employee Responsibility)
• Monitor, understand and add value to the financial analysis of projects across the business.
• Cost Value reconciliation data and Margin analysis on a monthly basis.
• Contribute to annual budget process alongside Finance Director
• Contribute to forecast process alongside Finance Director.
• Contribute towards development of long-term financial plan alongside Finance Director (3-5 years).
• Contribute to the compilation and analysis of the monthly financial results of the business and all associated commentary for relevant stakeholders (management & Board).
• Develop, maintain, and ensure accuracy of project cash flow forecast for both 13 week and rolling 12 months.
• Maintain detailed monthly balance sheet reconciliations for project related balance sheet accounts including WIP and retentions.
• Building strong working relationships across the business to aid understanding of project finance and to provide context to financial performance.
• Act as a trusted, visible, and accessible point of contact to business leaders; providing financial information to support decision making.
• Other finance related activities as directed by the Finance Director.

Skills / Competencies (Ability to perform role)
Core
• Knowledge of Sage line50 or similar Accounting software packages
• Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
• Commercially astute
• Qualified (AAT/CIMA/ACCA) or QBE

Desirable (but not essential)
• Experience within the Construction industry

Personal Attributes
• Maintain a professional image at all times
• Good work ethic, with desire to succeed in line with company values
• Self motivated with keen eye for detail
• To work such hours as are deemed reasonable and necessary to fulfil the requirement of the role
