Training Scheme – Aircraft Engineering & Pilots
Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is hiring for our Future Pilot and Aircraft Engineering training schemes! You’ll have the chance to play a pivotal role in ensuring we can continue to provide life-changing services to the isolated communities that need us most.
This is an exceptional opportunity for enthusiastic individuals with Physics and Mathematics A-levels and active service in a church, school, or another sphere to support our vital work overseas and embark on a journey of a lifetime.
Location: Based in the UK while training, based overseas on assignment
Contract: Minimum 4-year basis, full-time
The Role
Joining one of our training schemes, you will gain the skills and qualifications necessary to serve in aviation roles overseas, supporting our mission to reach isolated communities.
These programmes provide a unique opportunity to combine professional development with a meaningful calling, enabling you to play a vital role in delivering aid, healthcare, and hope to those in remote regions of Africa and the Asia-Pacific.
Through a structured and sponsored training pathway, you will acquire the theoretical knowledge and experience required to become fully qualified in your field.
You will participate in all academic and practical training, keep accurate financial records related to your training, and engage in activities that prepare you to represent us during and after your training.
On successful completion of the programme, you will serve with us overseas, applying your skills in real-world situations that support our vital work.
About You
To join us, you will need:
- Experience in a church, school, or another sphere
- Good attention to detail
- A-levels (or equivalent) including Physics and Mathematics at least grade B or above
Experience in aviation, engineering or maintenance would be beneficial to your application, as would overseas/cross cultural experience.
Due to the nature of our work, which involves regular overseas travel, these positions are open only to UK passport holders who are also UK residents. This is because we are only able to reliably secure the necessary visas for individuals with a UK passport.
About us
Mountains. Jungles. Swamps. Unrest. No roads. Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) is a Christian organisation that uses light aircraft to overcome these barriers to help bring practical help, physical healing and spiritual hope to some of the world’s most remote and inaccessible communities.
Millions of people cannot access basic medical care, clean water, schools or receive the Good News of God’s love, simply because it’s too dangerous or time-consuming to reach them. We provide flights for 2,000 aid, development and mission organisations to enable them to transform lives. It’s a great partnership – and you can help make it possible.
The Benefits
- Remuneration while on the training scheme will be a trainee allowance to support living costs (for post training and while on overseas secondments, this will be a ‘needs based allowance’, including spouse and child allowance as dependents will be expected to travel with the role holder)
- Annual leave entitlement of 22 days per year, plus 8 paid public holidays
- Housing overseas provided
- Annual return flight to the UK provided
- Non-contributory pension scheme
- Medical cover
Throughout the fully sponsored training scheme, you’ll gain world-class skills and qualifications while preparing to serve in some of the most remote and challenging environments, making a tangible difference to people’s lives every single day.
Once trained, you’ll embark on an unforgettable journey overseas, using your aviation expertise to help bring life-saving aid and medical support to isolated communities who would otherwise be unreachable.
As a Christian mission, MAF UK seeks staff who share in the evangelical Christian values and beliefs as described in the mission, purpose, values, and beliefs statements. All staff will be required to actively support and demonstrate the Christian values of the organisation and to take part in organisational activities such as staff devotions, prayer meetings, and fellowship days.
Other organisations may call this opportunity Aviation Training Programme, Pilot Development Scheme, Aircraft Engineering Trainee Scheme, Aviation Technician Training Programme, or Pilot and Engineer Sponsorship Scheme.
Webrecruit and Mission Aviation Fellowship are equal opportunities employers, value diversity and are strongly committed to providing equal employment opportunities for all employees and all applicants for employment. Equal opportunities are the only acceptable way to conduct business and we believe that the more inclusive our environments are, the better our work will be.
