HR Manager

An opportunity to join a specialist insurance company which is part of one of the largest insurance groups in the world.
THE ROLE
In this stand-alone role you will be responsible for all employee matters, from performance and reward, talent attraction to organisational design and culture. You will be part of the leadership team and support the business agenda by developing a best in class people function. This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys working autonomously, partnering closely with the business, undertaking projects, having a broad remit and holding real authority to make changes.
* HR Strategy - design and delivery of the HR strategy to support the company business plan. Attend the Underwriting and Operations Committee and Managers Meeting to regularly report on HR activities and Key Performance Indicators.
* Performance Management - coach managers on performance management to ensure that staff are continually developed and meeting clear and challenging objectives; further develop the performance management framework to support the organisation's corporate goals. Run annual calibration meetings.
* Culture and Employee Engagement - measure employee satisfaction and identify areas that require improvement. Partner with business to remediate areas of concern and continue to develop the 'one team' culture.
* Employee Relations - to provide expert and professional advice on employee relations issues and support the business, where required, to managing absence, disciplinaries, grievances, sickness
* Learning & Development - assess and arrange for the delivery of learning and development solutions that will contribute to enhanced organisational performance and employee engagement.
* SMCR - responsibility for SMCR (with the Head of Compliance and the Company Secretary): Management responsibilities map; fit and proper status; certification; PRA/ FCA updates; notifying PRA/ FCA of changes to SMF's.
* Recruitment and retention - manage talent and succession planning; taking overall responsibility for recruitment activity and campaigns; manage relationships with employment agencies. Prepare offer documentation and manage pre-employment screening.
* Reward - management of annual pay and bonus review; ensure variable remuneration rewards and retains strong performers. Advise and support employees on company benefits. Work with the Head of HR to prepare Remuneration Committee packs.
* Policy and procedures - review existing policies and procedures; design and implementation of additional procedures and processes ensuring compliance with employment legislation and regulatory requirements.
* HR Administration and Information - Update Workday on all changes, holiday allocation, and ad hoc changes. Ensure Personnel files are maintained in accordance with data retention requirements. Maintain and provide statistical and management information such as headcount and immigration status log. Comply with all Internal Audit requests.
* Budgets - manage HR budget, vendor relationships and monitor shared HR services.
* Internal Communications - Own and drive internal communications: coordinate with the leadership team: town hall meetings every 4/6 weeks; draft all staff updates on JML; ad hoc all staff updates including business news. Provide full suite of HR support, including in an advisory capacity to the UAE branch.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Education and qualifications - Essential or Desirable
* Degree level or equivalent education - Desirable
* CIPD qualified - Essential
* Regulatory comprehension - Desirable
Experience/Knowledge - Essential
* A track record of working with a business as an HR practitioner delivering proven expertise in all aspects of Generalist HR, Reward and Learning and Development policy and practice
* Strong customer focus
* Experience/knowledge of employment legislation, change management, organisation designs and HR systems
* Numerate and financially aware with the ability to produce reports and statistics as required
* Professional and positive approach at all times
* Strong influencing/negotiating skills
* Self motivated
* Strong in building relationships and able to communicate at all levels
* Team player and able to work on own initiative
* Strong commercial and cultural awareness
* Good coaching skills
* Experience using Workday is desirable.
