Shared Lives is transforming lives, with more Carers we could transform many more!

By opening their homes, Shared Lives Carers provide essential support to Adults with various needs, from learning disabilities, ASD, or Mental Health and dementia.

Here are some key benefits for Carers:
• Flexible and interesting job with a great work-life balance.
• Opportunities for skills development while working as a self-employed professional with team support.
• Competitive payment ranging from £350 to £643 per week, per placement, for long-term placements (with significant tax incentives).

Currently, they are recruiting for Long Term and Short Breaks placements, so you'll need a spare bedroom. Here are the types of services you can offer:

• Long term: The person lives with you and your family.
• Short Breaks (respite): The person stays for a night, weekend, or week.
• Day Support: Support someone from your home for up to 5 hours (not currently recruiting for this).

Becoming a Shared Lives Carer can significantly improve the quality of life, social inclusion, and support for the people you care for. Whilst this can be challenging, it is also incredibly rewarding.

Ideally, we'd love applicants from people who have care work, health care work, and/or personal experience of supporting adults with disabilities, however training can be provided, and voluntary work sought.

If you're interested in joining this fantastic scheme, you can call 03000 412400, email sharedlives@kent.gov.uk or visit Kent County Council's Shared Lives page for more information.
